3 SAP Business One success stories
SAP Business One is now used by more than 47,000 companies worldwide to streamline key processes, access vital information about their business in real-time and drive growth.
The solution is designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses – and our status as a SAP Business One partner means we can witness the benefits of the system first-hand. Here we look at three companies who made the decision to implement SAP Business One with APH and saw immediate results.
JBC Industrial Services
JBC is a leading service provider to the energy industry. It supplies, installs and maintains industrial steam boilers from five offices across the UK. With a team of 60 service engineers working out in the field, the company was struggling to monitor its large number of callouts and maintenance contracts effectively.
JBC identified the need to integrate accounting and job management processes in order to monitor the profitability of operations more closely. It realised that pulling in data from the field with greater speed and accuracy would be crucial.
As the company’s IT support provider, we recommended SAP Business One with two add-on modules that met JBC’s specific need to manage a dynamic mobile workforce profitably. These add-ons were Enprise Job to provide the accurate and timely job costing functionality the company needed, and Enprise Automate to generate the recurring invoices required by the business.
The solution enabled JBC to report on profitability in real time across the entire business, with the time and materials cost of each job clearly visible. “We have a job management screen that enables you to look at jobs in many different ways so all our requirements are covered,” said managing director Jamie Bashall. York Guns
Shooting supplies retailer and distributor York Guns needed a business system that could provide real-time financial reporting. An outdated system that could not deliver the required visibility on stock levels and sales orders was making it increasingly difficult for the company to manage its retail and wholesale operations effectively.
Company founder John Smith decided that SAP Business One was “the only workable solution”. The software’s ability to provide employees with critical financial information and other data in real time was a key factor in York Guns’ decision. The company wanted a system that was “future-proof” and had the potential to evolve with the business.
Our implementation of the system at York Guns included a review and refinement of the firm’s existing business processes, as well as a SAP Business One training schedule to ensure key users were confident in operating the system and ongoing support.
The result was clear – increased levels of visibility and efficiency that mean the company can focus on optimising its sales process and customer service. “Business One provides us with a clear and concise vision of our future, so we can better anticipate supply and demand,” explained sales director David Thompson. British Motor Heritage
Established in 1975, British Motor Heritage manufactures genuine parts and components for classic cars. The company faced a challenge when its growing
inventory and increasingly complex financial data started to place legacy systems under strain.
British Motor Heritage opted to implement SAP B1 because the system could provide much greater visibility and accuracy of stock, sales, orders and other financial information. For a business that is constantly expanding its catalogue and producing multiple versions of the same part, real-time access to this information is vital.
“Our legacy system left a lot of gaps in terms of getting information to the right people at the right time,” explained business systems manager John Pollard. He added that the implementation has enabled the company to “provide everyone with the right tools to be as efficient and cost-effective as possible”.
As well as timely access to information, SAP Business One has significantly eased the burden of reporting – something that was previously a major drain on resources for British Motor Heritage. “We no longer have to put holds on builds or orders just to ensure reporting accuracy,” Pollard revealed. What do they teach us?
Although each business is very different on the surface, the decision to implement SAP Business One delivered common benefits. Each company found the increased visibility and greater accuracy of information to be highly beneficial, in addition to the streamlined reporting processes made possible by the system.
